Scope:

i) Number: ISO 20136: 2017

Title: Leather – Determination of degradability by micro-organisms

Scope: This document specifies a test method to determine the degree and rate of aerobic biodegradation of hides and skins of different animal origin, whether they are tanned or not, through the indirect determination of CO2 produced by the degradation of collagen.

ii) Number: ISO 2820: 1974 ( amended: 1996)

Title: Leather – Raw hides of cattle and horses – Method of trim

Scope: This International Standard specifies the method of trimming the raw hides of cattle and horses, intended for the tanning industry.

iii) Number: ISO 2417: 2016

Title: Leather – Physical and mechanical tests – Determination of the static absorption of water

Scope: This International Standard specifies a method for determining the water absorption of leather under static conditions. The method is applicable to all leather, particularly heavy leather.

iv) Number: ISO 17551: 2018

Title: Leather – Pickled sheep pelts – Guidelines for grading on the basis of defect and size

Scope: This document provides guidance for grading pickled sheep pelts based on size and defects.

v) Number: ISO 17229: 2016

Title: Leather – Physical and mechanical tests – Determination of water vapour absorption

Scope: This International Standard specifies a method for determining the water vapour absorption of leather. The method is applicable for all leathers but is particularly relevant for leathers intended for footwear uppers and linings.
