The is meant to safeguard consumer health and safety, protect the environment, prevent deceptive practices and ensure fair trade practices.  

In discharging the above mandate, KEBS is guided by ISO/IEC 17020 International Standard which places the highest importance on preventing undue influence of Market surveillance activities. The ISO Standard, requires that commercial, financial and other pressures do not compromise impartiality, and recognizes that personal and organizational relationships potentially compromise impartiality and may need controls to maintain impartiality.
