KEBS Microbiology laboratory is also a provider of traceable microbiological reference cultures, Proficiency Testing (PT) samples and tailor made training solutions/advisory services to laboratory technical staff, institutions of higher learning and other industry players.

KEBS Microbiology laboratories implement a quality system based on ISO/IEC 17025:2005(General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories) and have been accredited since the year 2002. Our laboratories are currently accredited by South African National Accreditation Service (SANAS).
The Laboratory is managed by a highly credentialed and technically competent manager that works with a team of skilled and experienced technical staff. The technical staff comprise of university graduates (at MSc and BSc levels) and technicians who hold national and higher national diplomas. An emphasis on continuous training helps keep our staff on the cutting edge of industry developments.
The laboratory is adequately equipped with state of the art equipment such as Biosafety (level 2) cabinets, freeze dryers, precision refrigerated incubators, ultralow temperature freezers, autoclaves among others and comprehensive biochemical and serological identification kits. These resource capabilities have enabled us offer a wide scope of microbiological measurement solutions.
The services provided by the microbiology laboratory are targeted at meeting the diverse testing needs of a broad range of clientele that include but are not limited to manufacturers, Testing laboratories, Non-governmental Organizations, Government departments, Research institutions, Merchants and KEBS Quality Inspectors who check for compliance to Kenya Standards.
